Prices: $=Economical, $$=Great for the price, $$$ Excellent ambience, service and food. I won’t post eateries that are over prices, expensive or loud. Loud means, I’ve asked the owners to turn down the music and rudely been told “No.” Examples are Bizmaga on Garcia Vigel.

Probably one of Oaxaca’s best little secret eateries, located conveniently at 5 de Mayo 306, Jalatlaco. The menu is varried, the service is EXCELLENT, everything is clean and my favorite part, it’s VERY QUIET. Ask for Carlos and tell him Alan sent you. $$

RESTAURANT FAMILIAR TROPICANALocated in San Augustine Etla, go out the highway to Etla and turn right where all the Chicken Roasting stands are located and left and the first corner, by the Hardware Store. Continue on for one kilometer or 1/2 mile. The food, like the service is Excellent and the prices incredible low considering the location, service and ambience. $1/2

Huayapam Yu u ia located in the foothills, upon the Army Base about 4 miles. Driving through the town, you will come to a sign directing you to this intimate and well ran B&B with a great view of the valle de Oaxaca looking towards Mitla. The food is wonderful. Here is Linda Martin with her new friend, David, enjoying each other’s company. $$
